Hi! If you're new to Beans' page, his story starts with his bottom.

I mean, at the bottom.

Read starting from way down below to get the full scoop in chronological order, but the short version is, Beans is a special needs pup. He has a congenital defect of the end of his digestive tract resulting in the world’s cutest and tiniest bumhole. Fortunately, that appears to be the extent of the issue and all he needs is laxatives so he can answer the call of nature without spending 45 minutes scrolling.

He is the sweetest and most patient little creature, just bursting with love. He also shows signs of being very intelligent.

Can’t say enough good things about Beans.

Update! 5/14/26

Beans is doing great! His tiny butthole may be as ridiculous as ever but so is his positive attitude. He is sweet, happy, and apparently, other than his adorably/annoyingly petite anus, completely healthy. All he needs is his lactulose (sugar based laxative) with meals. He loves it and thinks he's getting a treat every time instead of medicine. It looks like the little guy is going to be just fine and I couldn't be happier. I just adore him. He's so special.

He’s not available for grabs just yet. I may be too in love and need to keep the little munchkin for myself.. but I'm still currently willing to consider parting with him to a very special home. His adoption fee covers the amount we have spent on his care so far, as well as a donation to our vet's angel fund. I suspect she seriously undercharged me for his hospital stay. I would like to show her some thanks by contributing to her ability to keep being so outrageously generous to our small community. Fill out an adoption application if you would like to be considered as a future mom or dad possibility.

And a quick but heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s been rooting for Beans ♥️

Update 3/19/26

Oh no Beans! You got butt problems, lil dude!

I noticed last Thursday when Beans was around 7 weeks that he was straining to do his business and not having much success. I watched him closely for a day and when he was unable to potty, off we went to the vet on Friday. After an x-ray to confirm he was indeed constipated, they gave him an enema and sent us home with laxatives to give over the weekend. That should have fixed him right up.

Well, the whole weekend passed and poor little Beans was still unable to poo. First thing Monday, we were back at the vet. They kept him for a few days, working hard to get him clear. Finally on Thursday, they declared success and sent him home with enough laxatives to unblock an elephant after an all-you-can-eat cheese buffet.

See, it seems that precious lil Beans has some terrible luck. He was most likely born with a congenital malformation of the end of his digestive tract called atresia ani. Unfortunately, this means his tract narrows, most likely toward the end of his colon and his tiny (literally physically tiny) butthole. This was no problem when he was young and his baby poos were soft and unformed because they could coast on by. But as he got older, and his poos got firmer, that narrowing held up traffic leading to a life-threatening blockage in his colon. We are hopeful that with regular laxatives to keep things moving along, he will be able to stay unclogged and lead an otherwise normal, happy life. If not, we will look into surgical options to help him out. Anything for Beans ❤️

There are not words to express how much of a sweet little angel this puppy is and how much I adore him. In spite of being miserable, clogged up for days, with an incredibly sore butt that everyone keeps poking for reasons he doesn't understand, Beans stays happy and affectionate with a positive little spirit that absolutely glows. He lays on his back in your hands like the cutest and most precious baby in the world, melting the hearts of everyone who meets him.

Beans is not currently available for immediate adoption due to his health challenges, but if you would like to be considered as a potential forever parent to him once he has shown himself to be stable with a good long-term prognosis, get in line ASAP. I will be looking for a very, very special home for him that understands the challenges he may face and will stand by him through them.

Beans is a silly name for a silly looking little pup whose ears are trying soooo hard to stand up! He's a little shy at first but he's got a little bit of a feisty side to him if you earn his trust. He jumps at loud noises and scrambles for the safety of a lap, but when he feels safe, he pounces on wiggly fingers anytime there's the opportunity. He is very young and his personality is still developing so stay tuned! But so far, he's one heck of a cutie patootie.
