Free-range egg artists, full-time bug assassins, and occasional cardio trainers for the puppies.
Job Description: Our elite flock of hens serves a triple purpose at Best Friends Kennels. First, they lay fresh, nutritious eggs that mostly fuel our human staff members but also occasionally go into the pups' food — farm-to-bowl style. Second, they provide natural pest control by enthusiastically hunting down bugs with the speed and precision of tiny, feathered ninjas. And third (perhaps most importantly to the puppies), they generously offer their services as cardio coaches by zipping across the yard in highly motivational chase sequences.
Each hen brings her own unique flair to the job, but they all share a strong work ethic, a love of snacks, and zero patience for freeloading insects. Their days are filled with clucking, pecking, scratching, and occasional dramatic monologues if breakfast is late.
Despite their impressive resumes, they remain humble and dedicated to their work. They ask only for sunshine, clean straw, and the occasional “thank you” in the form of a cracked corn bonus.
